LA MIAN Recipe (Serves 2)

Ingredients

• 250g La Mian

• 100g sliced beef rolls

• 1 cup (250ml) low sodium beef stock

• 2 cups (500ml) water

• ½ teaspoon beef stock cube

• ¼ teaspoon Chinese five spice powder

• 2 teaspoons chopped scallions

• 1 teaspoon light soy sauce

• 1 teaspoon Korean sesame oil

• Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Method

Cook the noodles in boiling water for 1 minutes, then strain and rinse in cold running water to prevent overcooking. For the soup, add the beef stock, water, beef stock cube and Chinese five spice powder to a deep pan and simmer for 10 minutes, or until boiling. In a deep bowl, combine the light soy sauce, sesame oil and chopped scallions. Add the cooked noodles to the bowl, then pour in 2 cups (500ml) of the boiling soup. Place the beef rolls into the bowl and let them cook in the hot broth for 5 minutes. Enjoy while hot.

For a spicier variation, replace the light soy sauce with your favourite spicy sauce, or simply add some to the broth.
