Fresh noodles bring a satisfying bite and authentic flavour to any Asian meal. At Yunion WA Enterprises, we’ve dedicated decades to crafting noodles for discerning home cooks and chefs alike.

Whether you’re preparing a comforting bowl of laksa or a quick stir-fry, storing and cooking your noodles correctly makes all the difference.

Proper Storage: Keeping Your Noodles Fresh

Fresh noodles are more delicate than dried ones and need to be stored carefully to maintain their quality.

Refrigeration

Yunion noodles are packed to preserve freshness, but proper home storage is key:

  • Keep unopened packs in the refrigerator at 2-4°C

  • Leave them sealed in their original packaging until ready to cook

  • Use within the recommended date on the label for best results

Freezing for Longer Storage

If you’re not using your noodles within a few days:

  • Transfer to a freezer-safe container or keep the packaging tightly sealed

  • Freeze for up to 2 months

  • Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before cooking

Cooking Fresh Noodles to Perfection

Fresh noodles cook quickly and soak up flavour beautifully when prepared properly.

Boiling Method

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil

  2. Gently loosen the noodles before placing them in the pot

  3. Cook for 1-3 minutes, depending on variety (thinner noodles cook faster)

  4. Taste-test for doneness - noodles should be tender with a slight bite

  5. Drain and rinse with cold water if using in cold dishes or stir-fries

Stir-Fry Method

Fresh noodles are ideal for high-heat cooking if prepped properly:

  • Blanch briefly in boiling water for 30 seconds to 1 minute

  • Drain and pat dry with paper towels

  • Stir-fry in a hot wok with other ingredients, tossing constantly to prevent sticking

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Overcooking: Fresh noodles cook faster than dried ones

  • Skipping pre-cooking before stir-frying: This can lead to clumping and uneven cooking

  • Using too little water when boiling: Always boil in plenty of water to reduce sticking

  • Letting noodles sit too long after cooking: Residual heat can lead to sogginess
